OUR INSURANCE OPTIONS

When we first arrived in Costa Rica ourselves, we were very confused with the various insurance options, their benefits, coverage and their over-the-top pricing. Wasn’t helping the fact that websites of major car rental agencies were, and continue to, hide and misrepresent the coverage and cost of their insurance options.

To make our car rental process as Pura Vida as the rest of Costa Rica, we always include all of the necessary coverage into our rates, as well as explain the differences and benefits of all coverage options.

We now also accept CDW insurance coverage from reputable credit card companies. Letter confirming coverage in Costa Rica is required.

Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI)

Supplemental Liability Insurance [SLI] is mandatory for all cars in Costa Rica, similar to many other countries around the world.

This coverage protects the renter against liabilities resulting from injuries to bystanders and damages to third party property.

Included in all rates and quotes.

Loss Damage Waiver (LDW)

Loss Damage Waiver [LDW] coverage includes SLI coverage, plus relieves the renter and authorized additional drivers of responsibility for loss of, or damage to the rental vehicle, when they comply with the rental terms.

It also includes emergency medical coverage in the event of a serious accident.

This coverage excludes “avoidable losses” such as glass damage, tire and wheel damage, paint and minor body damage, lost/damaged/stolen equipment (radio, battery, rented smartphone, rented car seats, etc.)

Included in all rates and quotes.

Total Protection Plus (TPP)

Total Protection Plus [TPP] coverage includes SLI and LDW, plus additionally includes protection from Glass damage, Tire and Wheel damage, Paint damage, Stolen items (radio, battery, rented smartphone, rented car seats, etc.).

TPP coverage also comes with a lower security deposit and damage excess.

Optional coverage, which includes the best protection and peace of mind.
Can be purchased during booking.
