Please note that CDW does not cover certain items like the stereo system, windshield, windows, tires, wheels, roof racks, loss of car keys, and damages to the vehicle’s body or interior, except in collision cases. 

In case of tire punctures or blowouts, the renter is responsible for repair or replacement, if repair is not possible. Typical tire repair costs around $10. We kindly ask that retread or second-hand tires are not used on our rental cars, and tires should match those on the opposite side.

Much like our CDW coverage, TPP also encompasses SLI and emergency medical coverage. Enjoy a worry-free experience with a $0 deductible for damages or theft (excluding cases of negligence), ensuring that you’re covered when you need it most.

Ensuring the effectiveness of your insurance coverage is pivotal for a secure and worry-free journey. Please be aware that insurance protection may become void, and the renter could assume full responsibility for any damages incurred to the vehicle if:

• The designated driver is not authorized by Jaco Car Rental.
• The vehicle is operated in contravention of Costa Rican laws and regulations.
• The driver operates the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or any illegal substances, including cannabis.
• Accidents or damages result from reckless driving, navigating poorly maintained roads, or venturing onto riverbeds, estuaries, or beaches.
• In case of an accident, the driver fails to present an accident report issued by local Transit authorities and/or an accident summary from the Insurance Inspector.

Depending on your location, response times vary, ranging from 30-60 minutes in well-connected towns to slightly longer periods in more remote areas.

Battery Boost and Replacement: Facing battery issues? Our vehicles include battery booster cables for quick boosts. If you prefer not to handle it yourself, our roadside assistance can also provide the necessary boost with the same prompt response time as for a flat tire. In case of need for battery replacement, we’ll coordinate with local battery shops to provide a hassle-free solution. 

Roadside Emergency Kit: Each vehicle features a basic emergency kit, ensuring you’re equipped to handle unexpected situations during your travels.

Maintenance and Vehicle Care: We take vehicle maintenance seriously and have a network of affiliated service shops across Costa Rica. In the rare instance of a problem, we aim to have it resolved within 24 hours. If needed, we’ll provide a replacement vehicle to keep you on the move.
